The effect of two strains probiotic bacteria (Lactococcus lactis and Weissella confusa)on intestinal flora, biochemical factors, immune and growth indices of young great sturgeon (Huso huso).

Abstract

At the start of the investigation, the average weight of fish was 44.79±18.3 g. Research was carried out with 3 experimental treatments included 0.15 g (T1), 0.3 g (T2), 0.45 g (T3) of 2 strains probiotic bacteria (Weissella confuse and Lactococcus lactis) and control group (without probiotic) for 2 months. The effects of adding 2 bacterial strains on immune indices, biochemical factors, growth performance and bacterial count were determined.
The results showed an increase in the activity of neutrophils, monocytes, lysozyme, complement ACH50 in treatments 1 and 2 compared to control treatment. The activity of C3 and C4 and IgM antibody in treatments 1, 2 and 3 were measured more than the control treatment. There was no significant difference between the treatments in terms of lymphocyte and eosinophil levels. In terms of biochemical parameters, the activity of lactate dehydrogenase, alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase, alkaline phosphatase and total plasma protein concentration in treatments 1 and 2 was significantly higher than control and T3. In terms of growth performance, feed conversion ratio in treatments 1 and 2 was significantly higher than control and T1. There was no statistically significant difference between the treatments in terms of biomass increase, condition factor, specific growth rate, daily weight gains and percentage of weight gain. In term of the effect on intestinal flora, the increase in the count of lactobacilli (the count of aerobic and facultative anaerobic bacteria) in the treatments 1 and 2 compared control and T3, indicates the beneficial role of bacterial strains added to the fish pelleted diet on intestinal flora. Totally, adding 2 strains of bacteria to the diet improved safety indices, biochemical parameters, and intestinal flora of young great sturgeon in treatments 1 and 2.
